Since Steven Soderbergh’s movie about Liberace is on HBO this Sunday, I thought I’d post some photos from when I went to the Liberace Museum when I was in Las Vegas some years ago .
Liberace was never a big interest of mine but I visited the museum out of curiosity. I liked the historic pianos on display. I hear the museum is closed now.
While I admire the craftsmanship of the costumes, they aren’t particularly enjoyable to look at. Recently I heard Liberace’s mansion is on the market for $500,000 – cash only. The press is calling the mansion “decrepit” and “faded and empty.” The HBO sets are reviewed in Architectural Digest and here you can see Liberace himself posing in one of his 10 bathrooms. People who aspire to riches and spending endlessly on frivolous bullshit might look at the Liberace example. No one cares enough anymore to even keep his museum open.
